Building a Brighter Future

Kids Smiles’ first dental center was launched in 2001 in Southwest Philadelphia with four employees and no patients of record. Patients soon began to fill the tiny office within the Mercy Wellness Center. Kids Smiles grew several times within the current space and by 2005, had served 17,000 children with ever increasing demand. To meet the demand, Kids Smiles expanded into West Philadelphia with its second site. Eleven years later, we find ourselves growing at an exceptional rate; having served 73,000 children in our dental centers since 2001 and 18,000 children annually.

To accommodate our growth, the Sweet Sixteen Capacity Building Campaign includes new facilities and capital improvements, which will increase the space and efficiency of our centers, with a goal to serve at least an additional 3,400 children per year. The first step forward in updating our facilities will be the move of our flagship Southwest Philadelphia dental center to the Penrose Plaza. The new location will have, greater accessibility, expanded evening and Saturday hours, and updated state-of-the-art equipment.

These improvements are crucial for our advancement as an oral health pioneer and dental home for those in need of care. Construction on the new Southwest dental center has begun, but your support is essential to helping us complete the project and create many more smiles in our communities.
