Our outreach program was launched in January 2001 with tremendous success. Kids Smiles initiatives embrace the mission of treating dentistry a component of comprehensive health. Our outreach and screening team visits:
- Schools—elementary, parochial, charter and nursery
- Head Start programs
- Healthy Start
- Pediatric health centers
- Community health fairs
Education and Outreach
Our program for younger children features interactive models and puppets that teach proper oral health and hygiene skills along with healthy eating habits, nutrition, and the dangers of tobacco.
We also train dental health promotion to a wide audience of teachers, high school students, youth workers and parents in our community.
The opportunities to assist children in our community are endless. We are proud to have established a variety initiatives:
- Assist families enrolling in health insurance
- Mentoring program with 6th grade class
- Reading program for special needs
- Partnership with SCAN
- Launching MOMS program
- Volunteering opportunities to minority youth
