Kids Smiles Oral Health Curriculum
The Kids Smiles Oral Health Curriculum is designed to provide school children with age-appropriate, comprehensive lessons on dental care. The curriculum aligns with the Pennsylvania Department of Education standards and is made available to teachers throughout the state on the DOE website. Kids Smiles also shares the curriculum with other organizations to reach more children in the community. Is your organization interested in sharing the KS Oral Health Curriculum? Kids Smiles Dental Detective Academy (KSDDA)
Our in-house education program, entitled the Kids Smiles Dental Detective Academy, is offered in the waiting room of our dental centers. Fun and interactive lessons designed for different age groups are offered, focusing on dental and overall health literacy. Once a child completes three lessons, the patient becomes a Dental Detective. The new Detective assists with the lessons and his or her dental health is tracked to evaluate the effectiveness of our education efforts during future visits.
Kids Smiles Outreach Program
Kids Smiles strives to reach all children in our community through our Outreach Program, which provides free dental screenings and education through schools and community programs. On average, we screen more than 5,000 students and educate about 12,000 students a year including children in over 68 Head Start centers. The Angelakis Family Foundation provides generous support for outreach to Head Start centers in the Philadelphia area.
Kids Smiles currently works with more than 200 community partners in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Would you like Kids Smiles to visit your school or program? Click here to tell us more and we will contact you as soon as possible.
Kids Smiles Prevention Program
Kids Smiles overcomes barriers to access by providing full dental services in schools through our Kids Smiles Prevention Program. Our clinical dental team brings portable, free-standing dental equipment into schools, offering cleanings, exams, sealants, x-rays, and fluoride varnish. If disease is noted, the hygienist contacts the student’s parent or guardian to help the student find a dental home.
The Kids Smiles Outreach and Prevention Programs enjoy the generous support of key partners, including: Angelakis Family Foundation, Oral Health America, Independence Blue Cross, and Dental Trade Alliance Foundation
